FAQ Collage
GENERAL

Do your lessons follow the NSW curriculum?

Yes, absolutely! All of our resources and teaching practices are aligned with the NSW curriculum. Our role is to support students so that when they attend school, the content taught makes more sense. We base our program on the skills your child needs to achieve at each stage level.

What happens on my child’s first tutoring session?

One of our friendly staff will meet with you when you arrive and introduce you to your child’s tutor so they feel comfortable and welcomed. We help your child enjoy their first tutoring experience as we know this can be daunting. One of our friendly staff will contact you after your child’s session to get some feedback to ensure it’s the right fit moving forward.

Do you distribute homework?

We are super flexible! We understand often schools bombard our students with homework and so we don’t want to add too much academic stress to our students. So, all of our parents are asked on their enrolment form to nominate if they wish for their child to receive homework. Our tutors are more than happy to provide homework at no additional cost to your tuition fees. You can also change your preference at any time. We do however send home spelling words, reading logs, and a worksheet or two if we feel this is something that may benefit the student.

How often do I receive feedback about my child’s tutoring?

You can contact your tutors any time via email to request feedback. Our tutors keep a record of weekly comments and will happily discuss progress and areas they focused on in the sessions. Periodic feedback is provided through the form of a written report that is provided to parents at the end of Term 2 and Term 4.

ENROLMENTS & TUITION

How much does it cost?

Tuition fees start from $70 (incl. GST) per session for group tuition.

What happens if don’t start tutoring at the start of the term, do we have to pay for the whole term?

No, you don’t have to pay for the whole term in this situation. It is only once we have offered you a position and you have accepted this time slot, we would then require your financial commitment.

Can we start tutoring at any time?

You can enrol at any point. There are more sessions to choose from at the beginning of each term if we know you preference however we will do out best to find a suitable session time should you join us through out the term.

Does tutoring roll over into the next term?

We anticipate that you will continue with tutoring into the following term, however this may or may not be the case. Therefore we towards the end of each term, we invite parents to complete a quick re-enrolment form online to let us know of your intentions.

Do you continue tutoring throughout the school holidays?

No we don’t provide tutoring throughout school holidays. We believe this is a time to allow Students to enjoy their school holidays and take that much needed break so they can return at the beginning of each term refreshed and ready to learn.

What are your payment options?

We offer an automated direct debit payment system and cash payments. You can choose the following payment options:

Full Term (1 upfront installment)

Hall term (2 installments)

Fortnightly Installments

Once I enrol, am I locked into a contract?

We are very understanding that things may change and whatever your reason may be, you would like to un-enrol. All that we ask is a written notification which a 2 week notice period will follow. You will be required to pay for your normal sessions during the 2 week notice period, however your Child is welcome to attend tutoring for those sessions also.

ABSENCE & MISSED LESSONS

You can call, SMS, or create an absence in our app, it’s as easy as that! Provided that you let us know with 24 hours or more notice time, we can offer you a make-up session.

What if things change and I can no longer make the given tuition time?

No problem at all, simply contact us to let us know. We will then try our very best to work with your change of availability to offer you a different time.

MORE SPECIFIC

Would my child benefit from 1:1 or small groups?

Our students benefit from both 1:1 and small group tuition. Given our group sessions are limited to 4 students at a time the tutor is still able to work 1:1 with each student throughout the 60-minute session. We recommend 1:1 sessions for students who need significant assistance and may not work in a group environment. We will happily advise what’s best in the assessment.

What are the benefits of small group tutoring?

Small group tuition is fantastic! In a small group, different perspectives and learning styles create a fun, high-energy environment. Not only that, a friend at tutoring is a powerful incentive to keep students working hard and coming back. We know that a large group environment of 30+ students at school can be daunting to get involved and ask questions, however without so many eyes on them, timid students can start taking small risks, eventually becoming comfortable enough to share their opinions confidently and consistently in small group classes.

How do you group students together?

We group our students together based on their skill level but also their personalities. Not every small group will be a good fit for your child, even if the other participants are the same age and so we take into consideration more than just the student’s age. Your tutor should work with you to find the most helpful placement for your child and their learning style.

Do you offer sibling sessions?

Yes, we do! We know it is difficult to get students to extracurricular activities most afternoons and so our shared sibling sessions mean you don’t have to worry about running around and attending our centre more than one time per week. Our sibling sessions mean that the tutor works with the students individually during the hour whereby both students get 1:1 time with the tutor. If we feel this isn’t suitable for your children we will let you know.

How long does it take before I see progress in my child’s academics?

We see relatively fast improvements in children’s confidence within one term of tutoring. Improving academic skills can take a little longer and every student learns at different paces. Most children experience academic improvements within 6, 12 or 18 months. We develop learning goals for all of our students and keep parents in the loop about their child’s progress.

How long will my child need tutoring?

Every student is different and it is therefore difficult to put a timeframe on it. If there are significant gaps in knowledge and skills that need to be filled, then bridging the gap and getting your child to the level they need to be can take some time. To see improvements in your child, we recommend that your child attends tutoring for at least one term consistently.

Do you use any specialised programs?

We aren’t like the typical tutoring centres out there that have strict programs implemented. We hand select our resources and build our own programs using evidence-based practices. Our staff is trained and knowledgeable when it comes to planning lessons and so we believe our flexible approach is why our students love tutoring and why we see improvements in each and every one of our students.
